“Booker” refers to the individual or couple making the booking.
“Celebrant’ or ‘Celebrants’ refers to the celebrant that has been booked to deliver the ceremony.
Terms & Conditions
We will always do our best to deliver the most amazing ceremonies for your special day, and with that in mind we believe it is best to have a few simple things written down so that we both understand what’s involved, who needs to do what, and what happens if we encounter any issues along the way.
In these terms and conditions you won’t find complicated legal terms or large passages of unreadable text. We have no desire to trick you into agreeing something that you might later regret. What we do want, is to ensure the safety of both parties, now and in the future.
Book a Celebrant provides booking support and confirmation for celebrants. Once the initial booking has been made, the agreement lies between the celebrant and service user, therefore all correspondence and further invoicing will be completed by the celebrant.
Ceremonies
Ceremonies conducted by Book a Celebrant are not legally binding. It is your responsibility, if you so choose, to make your union a legally recognised marriage.
If the date of your Wedding Ceremony changes, your celebrant will endeavour to be flexible in working with you to move the ceremony to a new agreed date.
You agree to informing your chosen celebrant of any alterations to any aspects of the ceremony our celebrant will be delivering at a minimum of no less than 12 weeks prior to the agreed date the ceremony is due to take place, whether that’s changes to ceremony location, ceremony structure, vows/ reading, music, timings or anything else that may impact the delivery of their service.
To allow us to deliver the best possible celebrant services, the request that the final version of the ceremony is agreed with your celebrant a minimum of 14 days before the wedding ceremony date, and ideally before.
Book a Celebrant is not responsible for any accident or injury caused to anybody during any ceremonies, and these are performed with full acknowledgement of this by the Celebrant and Booker.
It is the responsibility of the Booker to seek and gain approval from their chosen venue, to ensure we are able to deliver the agreed service as outlined in our agreement.
Book a Celebrant’s celebrants always endeavour to be punctual and arrive at the ceremony location at the agreed time (usually approx. 1 hour before the ceremony). However, Book a Celebrant will not be held responsible for lateness due to circumstances that are beyond our control, such as traffic, accidents and extreme weather conditions.
Your Involvement
Writing your wedding ceremony will involve multiple meetings with your celebrant in which you will be required to provide personal information. Meetings may be carried out either face to face or via Zoom, Google Meet, Skype or another video call provider, in addition to emails, texts and other messaging services.
Bookers are to respond to celebrant’s requests for information within a reasonable time period, or the agreed timescale, failure to do this may result in the withdrawal of our services, and the retaining of any monies paid up to that point.
Ceremony Day
Book a Celebrant’s celebrants reserve the right to leave the ceremony location after one hour if the booker does not attend, or our celebrant isn’t kept informed of reasons for lateness / non-attendance.
In the unlikely event of the celebrant not being unable to deliver the ceremony, due to unforeseen circumstances, your celebrant will endeavour to arrange a suitable replacement celebrant immediately and keep you informed.
Photography & Video
Book a Celebrant’s celebrants are happy to appear in ceremony photography and video, unless otherwise stipulated by your celebrant prior to this agreement.
From time to time Book a Celebrant’s celebrants may request use of media to use for marketing or promotional purposes, when this is the case, Book a Celebrant, or the celebrant, will contact both the booker and photographer to outline the desired usage and request consent.
Legal bits
If any provision of this agreement shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions
Deposits & Payments
The booker will pay a fee to secure their ceremony date. After 14 days, the booker will then be issued an invoice from their celebrant for 50% of the remaining balance of their ceremony cost (usually with 7 day terms). Failure to pay this invoice on time may result in the booking no longer being valid. Book a Celebrant accepts no liability for this. An invoice date for the final remaining balance is to be agreed with your celebrant.
Please note additional costs may be charged if your ceremony falls outside of the agreed 50 mile radius (celebrant’s travel allowance included in booking fee), or if your ceremony is longer than 40 minutes.
Book a Celebrant reserves the right to retain any monies paid, should you choose to cancel your ceremony. Any return of payments made to Book a Celebrant, are at the discretion of Book a Celebrant.
Cancellations
The booker has a period of 14 days to cancel a booking. If the booker cancels within 14 days they will receive a full refund of the deposit paid to Book a Celebrant.
To exercise the right to cancel, the booker must inform Book a Celebrant and their celebrant of the decision to cancel this contract by a clear written statement (e.g. a letter sent by post, or an e-mail).
