What is a Wedding Celebrant?
Wedding Celebrants are individuals who deliver unique, personal ceremonies for couples looking to have a Wedding Ceremony. A Wedding Celebrant is a trained person who performs formal Wedding ceremonies without any of the restrictions imposed on legal Wedding venues and registrars. Wedding Celebrants are not bound by religious conventions or the rites of any religion, but they can include as little or much religious or spiritualist elements as the couple wishes.
The choice in the type of Weddings now available in the UK is huge. While some couples decide that that they would like a traditional religious service in their house of worship, many more prefer a brief, civil ceremony, performed by a Wedding Celebrant in a licensed venue. An increasing number of couples are now choosing to have their Wedding ceremony led by a Wedding Celebrant as they can create a very special and personalised Wedding Ceremony for the couple, which can take place wherever the couple wants and with as many guests as they would like. Having said that, there is still much confusion and some misconceptions about the role of a Wedding Celebrant.
